We are in Charleston right now, and planned to leave August 8th or 9th.  Things with Matilda are pretty much taken care of, as far as the power converter for the generator is concerned.  Hopefully, that means we don't have to worry about any more sparks shooting from the outlet by the fuse panel.  It's been good to get some local interviews done while we've been in Charleston, and at the same time we are very excited to get BACK out on the road.  There are a few more things to wrap up, one being a visit back to D.C., which some of you may understand.  We are thrilled to share the good news that we will be getting AIR CONDITIONING (labor & cost of parts donated by BOA Construction Corporation -- THANK YOU!)  That will save us on gas because we won't have to run the generator for cool air in the hot, desert-like areas.  Therefore, that is something being taken care of currently, and should be finished by the end of today!  Yes!  Although we really enjoyed much of our time in the Northeast US, I'm personally ready to see more areas of the country that I am less familiar with in terms of climate, environment, etc.   Hmmm, though I must say I'm a little concerned about hitting the DESERT area, . . . in Matilda . . ., especially after recently seeing "The Hills Have Eyes," which was good & also perhaps a subtle warning to us to bring along some flares and firearms!!  KIDDING, of course, . . . I would NEVER . . . shoot a monster!  OR WOULD I?  It's a MONSTER, for crying out loud!

We're ready to hit the road again, but it seems that there is a possible hurricane on the way!  Tropical Storm Ernesto is supposed to be off the coast of Charleston in just a few days, so our new plan is to wait out the bad weather.  Since Charleston is our home, we have seven animals we are responsible for & love very much.  If we stay to make sure the storm passes with no big problems, we will have a much easier time concentrating on the film when we get back to living in our newly-refreshed Matilda on the road for the next couple of months.

We recently met someone who had lived & worked in Antarctica for awhile, . . . now we are very curious & hope to get there someday for a personal view of how things work there.  I know this sounds ridiculous, but I think the guy actually said it got down to as low as negative one hundred nine degrees there!!  Um, what?!  He said when it got to about thirty or so degrees, it was shorts & t-shirt weather for him, & time for a good game of ball or something active like that.  That is when I will want to go!  haha

There are a lot of new ideas in the works, & it will be a lot of fun to share them all with you over the course of production during the next couple of months.  We'll be adding some polls in the near future, for one thing, in order to get your ideas so that you can all help shape the final cut of the film.  After all, we really want to make a movie that will entertain as many people as possible, & nobody knows better what will make you laugh than you.

If you have any questions, thoughts or suggestions, we'd love for you to share them by posting on the message board.  The more active the board gets, the more we will come back to post our answers, responses or other similar updates.

This behind-the-scenes website will also get a big overhaul soon.  We'll be going from the IslandHippie theme to the "Dream States" film theme.  And, there's currently a very simple main website for the film.  You can click here to see it.  Neither of us is an artist, yet we still need movie posters.  I have started on a large number of designs myself, but would LOVE a fresh eye, and would love to give someone the opportunity to create something new for us in exchange for industry recognition.  There is no pay involved, but anyone interested in helping design movie posters will receive full FILM CREDIT (name will appear in credits of the film) if we choose their work.  Artists or designers will have to be willing to sign a release form allowing us full rights to use their ORIGINAL custom-designed work for the movie and all promotional needs.  You would get credit here on the website, also.  We get very excited about promoting new talent, or giving props to those who deserve it, as word-of-mouth is the best & most reliable source of advertising, to say the least.  If you are interested in designing a movie poster for "Dream States," please contact us as soon as possible.  You can send an email expressing your interest, and we will let you know some of the facts you might need to design the poster.  Or, you can just go ahead & design from your own head after garnering a little information from this website and the front page of the main website for the film.  Then, e-mail it to us ASAP.  We promise not to use your design until we have notified you of acceptance of your design as well as received your signed release form.  So, don't worry . . . we're not thieves, and we would not even think of stealing a design or even a portion of it.

Also, we know we have been really slack at posting our restaurant & band reviews, despite the fact that we DO enjoy promoting good talent & great food or service.  We must be honest & admit we have not had much time for concerts or shows, but during the next two months of production we will be putting a new focus on that side of the film.  So, anyone in our path (as shown on another page of our site) that wants us to go see their band play, for exposure on our website at the very least, and at the most for us to interview for possible inclusion in the final cut of the film, should e-mail us.  We'd be very pleased if someone could write and record a great title song for the film.  Serious musicians with an interest in writing music for the soundtrack of the film, or the title track itself, should get started and contact us as soon as possible to let us know of their interest and progress.  All talent used for the final cut of the film or any film promotion would receive full film credit.  This means if we use you or your music, your name will appear in the movie credits.

Just a note to all that may consider participating in the film.  There are a plethora, yes . . . a plethora, of independent film projects with little or no budget money.  These instances that require someone to work for no pay are great "stepping stones" into the industry for some, and a chance to get back to the basics of smaller, independent projects for those that are now working on large, big-budget films.  Although there is not pay involved for those in the cast & crew of "Dream States," there IS the film credit.  On top of that, there is the fact that we currently have a minimum of six other projects in development -- most of which WILL be film productions that will have the budget to actually pay actors and crew members, if not all of them.  So, we hope that on this first film for IslandHippie Productions LLP, we will meet serious people willing to do something creative and instrumental to the completion of this production in exchange for the film credit/no pay/possibility of working with us for actual money in the future if we all get along.  This is something mutually beneficial to all of us, especially if you actually LIKE new challenges, creating new designs,  writing new songs, etc.  And, on the flip side, when members of our crew are in-between projects, or able to squeeze it in during a production, we are also willing to work for no pay, in exchange for film credit on your own project if you are in the industry.

Thank you to all of you who continue to provide generous support to us!  We literally could not do all of this without you!  We love you and appreciate you.
